About Us
Our Mission
King of Glory Preschool is a community service ministry of King of Glory Lutheran Church in Newbury Park, California. Founded in 1991, our beautiful facility was thoughtfully designed and built specifically to provide a welcoming home for preschool children.
At King of Glory Preschool, we believe children thrive in a nurturing, child-centered environment where they are encouraged to explore, discover, create, and grow. Through meaningful, age-appropriate experiences, we support each child’s physical, social, emotional, cognitive, spiritual, and creative development.
Our goal is to nurture confident, compassionate, and curious children while fostering a positive attitude toward life, learning, and the world around them. We are honored to partner with families in providing a loving foundation for each child’s early years.
Philosophy & Goals
At King of Glory, we value children for who they are, not simply for what they know or what they can do. We believe every child deserves to feel seen, heard, valued, and celebrated. We demonstrate this by listening to children, recognizing their efforts, honoring their individual strengths, and providing meaningful opportunities for each child to experience success.
We strive to create a language-rich environment where young children develop the verbal skills they need to express their feelings, thoughts, ideas, and needs. Through conversations, storytelling, songs, and meaningful interactions, we encourage children to find their voices and communicate with confidence.
We also believe that language should inspire creativity, imagination, and a sense of adventure. By introducing children to high-quality early childhood literature and encouraging them to explore and experiment with language in their own ways, we nurture a lifelong love of stories, learning, and self-expression.
Above all, we want every child at King of Glory to know that they are valued just as they are—and that their ideas, voices, and unique ways of seeing the world matter.
Our Curriculum
Our program is thoughtfully planned to help each child develop a positive and healthy self-image, build empathy and respect for others, and develop the critical-thinking skills needed for everyday life. While we provide a carefully designed curriculum, our daily schedule remains flexible and responsive to the needs, interests, and developmental stages of our students.
At King of Glory, we provide a nurturing environment where children are encouraged to explore and discover the world at their own pace. Through hands-on learning, engaging activity centers, and meaningful experiences, children are given opportunities to investigate, ask questions, solve problems, and make discoveries for themselves.
Our goal is to foster curiosity, creativity, independence, and a lifelong love of learning while supporting each child’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.

Hello all, my name is Shannon Meyerson, and I am the Director of King of Glory Preschool. With over 25 years of experience in early childhood education, I am deeply passionate about fostering a nurturing environment where children feel loved, supported, and encouraged to grow. Holding a Bachelor’s in Child Development and an Early Childhood Credential, I am committed to the social and emotional well-being of every child, as well as the important relationships between parents and children in our community.
At King of Glory Preschool, I believe that building strong, positive connections is key to helping children develop a sense of love, friendship, and belonging. We focus on creating a community where children are empowered to grow socially and emotionally, preparing them for a lifetime of meaningful relationships and success. My approach is centered on collaboration with families, ensuring that we work together to support each child's unique needs and milestones.

My name is Lauren, and I am so excited to be the Assistant Director here at KOG Preschool! My love for working with children began when I was just 12 years old, volunteering in my church nursery. Since then, working with children has continued to be a passion of mine.
Before joining KOG, I worked for CVUSD as a paraeducator, where I had the privilege of working with children with special needs. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Educational Studies, which has further strengthened my passion for supporting children as they learn and grow.
I live in Moorpark with my husband and our three boys, ages 12, 5, and 5 months. KOG holds a very special place in my heart because I attended KOG Preschool myself as a child. It is such a joy to now work here and have my own son attend KOG as well!
One of my favorite parts of being at KOG is seeing the children’s happy faces on the yard each morning and having the opportunity to get to know each and every one of them. I feel incredibly blessed to be part of the KOG community and look forward to making each child and family feel welcomed, loved, and supported.

I earned my BA from Point Loma Nazarene University and spent over 10 years as a play-based teacher. More recently, I returned to school to complete my AMI Montessori training in both Assistants to Infancy (A to I) and Primary, focusing on the first plane of development, from birth through age six.
I am passionate about creating a nurturing environment where children feel confident, curious, and excited to explore. It is a joy and a privilege to support each child as they grow, discover, and develop a lifelong love of learning.

I have been working in the ECE field since 2021, beginning at a small private school and later working at a daycare. I’ve also been babysitting children and volunteering in school settings since I was a little girl. Along the way, I spent some time working as a behavioral interventionist, which gave me even more experience supporting children and their individual needs.
The preschool world truly has my heart. There is something so special about watching children learn, grow, and discover who they are. Being able to help them become kind, gentle, curious little humans makes my heart grow more every day. I'm very excited to be here at King of Glory. I have always been fascinated by the growth and development of children. I believe they are very special and an important part to our society. I've had years of experience working with 2-year-olds and I look forward to branching out with the 3-year-olds. Together, it's our job to help mold and shape them for a successful future. My motto has been, it takes a village. On a more personal note, I am very close with my family, I am the oldest of three, I have two younger brothers. I am the proud Auntie of six wonderful little munchkins. I try to spend as much time with them as I can. I also enjoy traveling on my free time with friends or to visit friends far away. I love shopping and scrapbooking my many wonderful experiences.

I am also a proud mother of two wonderful boys, Brandon, who is 32, and Jason, who is 24. They have both been a tremendous inspiration in my journey as a teacher. Being a mom has given me an even greater appreciation for the importance of nurturing, encouraging, and supporting young children as they grow.

Before moving from Canada to California nine years ago, I taught art
and creative writing to elementary students. After our move, I was
offered a preschool teaching position at my children’s school when
their teacher unexpectedly left mid-year. It turned out to be a
perfect fit — I quickly discovered how much I love working with young
children!
That experience inspired me to continue my education, and over the
next few years I earned more than 30 college credits in Child
Development and Early Childhood Education, along with five associate
degrees from Moorpark College.
I truly believe the first five years of a child’s life are
foundational to their growth and learning, and I feel honored to play
a part in helping them develop curiosity, confidence, and joy in the
classroom.

I am passionate about working with young children and supporting their growth, development, and love for learning. I believe every child deserves a safe, nurturing, and fun environment where they feel valued, confident, loved, and encouraged to be themselves.
I have experience working with infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children, and I am committed to creating a classroom where each child can learn and grow at their own pace. I hold an Associate of Arts in Society, Human Behavior and Culture and an Associate of Science in Early Childhood Education. I am also currently continuing my education in Speech Pathology, which allows me to further develop my understanding of children’s communication and development.
Outside of the classroom, I enjoy traveling, hiking, football, and spending time with my friends and family.
I am truly excited to be part of the KOG family and look forward to getting to know each of our little ones and their families. I can’t wait for all the smiles, milestones, learning, and special memories we will share together! 💕
